Search Adopted Resolutions:


WHEREAS, an excellent system of public education is vital to the quality of life for Alabama citizens and basic to the future strength of our state; and
WHEREAS, local boards of education are uniquely American institutions that have made public schools both accountable and responsive to the needs of local communities and have kept alive the ideal of representative government; and
WHEREAS, more than 750 men and women serve their communities on local boards of education, devote their knowledge, time and talents, and strive continually to improve the quality of education for Alabama’s children; and
WHEREAS, the goal of School Board Member Recognition Month is to increase public understanding and appreciation of the state’s local school board members and to build support for local lay control of public education:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education proclaims January as School Board Member Recognition in Alabama and encourages all communities to participate in this celebration through activities that demonstrate to the public the vital role fulfilled by local school board members.
