Search Adopted Resolutions:


WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education supports a valid, rigorous, and balanced assessment program for Alabama’s public school students comprised of criterion-referenced tests and norm-referenced tests; and
WHEREAS, the Alabama State Board of Education supports an accountability system which includes an accountability index for each grade, school, and school system in Alabama based upon the results of the appropriate state-administered tests in identified grades, plus an inclusion of other factors such as dropout rates, attendance, discipline and parental involvement; and
WHEREAS, in order to transition from the current assessment and accountability systems to improved systems, the State Board of Education acknowledges that it is critical to pilot the interim assessment program and new accountability system during the 2001-2002 school year with preliminary data being released during the summer of 2002 in order to afford the Department of Education and the Technical Advisory Committee time to make recommendations on standards for each appropriate assessment and accountability level and to afford the local school systems time to review data in order to prepare programs to address improvement:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby establish the following calendar and appropriate actions for assessments and accountability effective immediately:click here.
