APPROVING TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The University of Alabama
Tuscaloosa, Alabama

WHEREAS, a review of teacher education programs was conducted on March 1-5, July 11-14, and October 21, 2008, by the State Department of Education in accordance with the Alabama Administrative Code, Rule No. 290-3-3-.56(2)(a)2; and

WHEREAS, compliance with Alabama State Board of Education rules has been verified; and

WHEREAS, Alabama is a partner with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE); and

WHEREAS, NCATE reviewed The University of Alabama programs in 2008 and granted continuing accreditation of all programs on October 16, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the State Superintendent of Education recommends approval of the programs:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education hereby approves the following programs, with approval to expire on May 31, 2016:

*Individuals who complete the institution’s Multiple Abilities Program (Class B or Alternative Class A) will receive certificates endorsed in both Collaborative Teacher (Grades K-6) and Elementary Education (Grades K-6).

**The institution may continue to provide its current Class A Educational Administration program until September 1, 2009, and the current Class AA program until all institutions are required to discontinue those programs and document compliance with Instructional Leadership standards.
