WHEREAS, Alfa Farmers, Alfa Insurance Company, the State Board of Education and the State Department of Education wish to recognize excellence and commitment to education by educators throughout the State of Alabama on a monthly basis; and
WHEREAS, this program would recognize a teacher/principal in Alabama each month and provide a cash award to the educator and the school where the educator is employed; and
WHEREAS, the State Board of Education and the State Department of Education continue to implement strong programs and standards to improve public education in Alabama and recognize that the success of these programs depends upon the efforts of classroom teachers and principals in Alabama’s public schools; and
WHEREAS, Alfa believes that the excellence and superior performance by teachers and principals deserve recognition and awards, and such recognition and awards act as an incentive to other teachers and principals; and
WHEREAS, Alfa believes in the importance of recognizing outstanding educators throughout Alabama and wishes to provide a cash award each month to the individual educator and the school where the educator is employed; and
WHEREAS, this award is made pursuant to the plan and program developed by Alfa and approved by the State Superintendent of Education to recognize educators for excellence and commitment to education in the State of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, it is inherent in the employment of educators in Alabama that they are entitled to recognition and receipt of awards commending excellence and outstanding achievement which are presented through plans and programs approved by the State Board of Education and the State Superintendent of Education:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby approve and authorize Alfa Farmers and Alfa Insurance Company to implement the Alfa Teacher/Principal of the Month Award program in accordance with the procedures outlined in the attached plan.
