COMMENDING THE 2013-2014 ALTERNATE ALABAMA TEACHER OF THE YEAR, TRACY PRUITT, MONTANA STREET ACADEMIC MAGNET SCHOOL, DOTHAN CITY SCHOOLS SYSTEM

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in Early Childhood Education from Troy University and is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT); and

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt, who comes from a family of educators, has taught in the Dothan City School System for the past 23 years in various positions, the last five of which have been spent at Montana Street Academic Magnet School; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt is driven by the belief that all students can learn and that teachers must work hard and never give up on any child; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt is passionate about teaching literacy and mathematics, integrating technology into the curriculum, and getting parents involved in their child’s education; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt is a member of several professional teaching organizations, including the Dothan Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Association, and National Reading Association; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt has served on many education committees and is an active volunteer in her community, assisting the PTA, Booster Club and Wiregrass Hope Group, among others; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Pruitt’s time, attention, and patience in the classroom has inspired the next generation of educators, including her daughter, who plans to follow in her footsteps and become a teacher:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education does hereby congratulate Tracy Pruitt for being named the 2013-2014 Alternate Alabama Teacher of the Year and commends her for her dedication to her students, her commitment to excellence, her achievement in the field of education, and the recognition she has brought to the teaching profession for the benefit of students throughout Alabama.
