Search Adopted Resolutions:


WHEREAS, the Torchbearer Schools program recognizes high-performing, high-poverty public schools in Alabama; and

WHEREAS, at least 80 percent of the student population in a Torchbearer School receive free or reduced meals; and

WHEREAS, at least 80 percent of the student population score in a Torchbearer School at Level 3 or Level 4 on the Alabama Reading and Mathematics Test+ (ARMT+); and

WHEREAS, Sycamore School was identified as Meeting, Advancing, and Exceeding the Challenge as described by the Alabama State Department of Education Rewards Plan; and

WHEREAS, Sycamore School’s staff and faculty hold high expectations for teaching and learning, which has resulted in students achieving at high levels; and

WHEREAS, Sycamore School has worked diligently to provide a positive learning environment for all students and teachers; and

WHEREAS, Sycamore School is committed to academic excellence and continuous improvement efforts benefiting all students; and

WHEREAS, Sycamore School exhibits the exemplary qualities of a high-performing learning community dedicated to the success of every teacher and student; and

WHEREAS, Sycamore School’s staff and faculty not only understand the science but also embrace the art of teaching:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Alabama State Board of Education expresses its sincere appreciation for exemplary student achievement to Ms. Michelle Head, Principal; Dr. Suzanne Lacey, Superintendent; staff and faculty at Sycamore School and congratulates them for this prestigious honor of being named as a Torchbearer School.
